Everything you need to know
Your hosts Justine and Bayden are excited to offer this new vineyard experience to you.
Both from a rural New Zealand farming background with a love of great wine and food and the great activities available in the Hawkes Bay.
‘We look forward to sharing with you the luxury, tastes, relaxation and action that is available at Kiwiesque and nearby.’
The Kiwiesque Vineyard
Kiwiesque overlooks the vineyard which includes a producing block of Pinot Gris and new plantings of Albarino, replacing our red varieties. Albarino is a white variety from Galicia in Spain. Also grown in a coastal climate and enjoyed with the very best seafood Tapas. We hope to replicate the experience with the exceptional Hawkes Bay seafood on offer.
2007 was a very sunny and dry year and produced a great red wine in Hawkes Bay. Our 2007 ‘Farting Kiwi’ Cabernet Sauvignon is a one off and our feature wine. In limited supply it is best enjoyed with local lamb from the BBQ at Kiwiesque. This can be complemented with a selection of our selected red wines.
The vineyard is registered as a Sustainable Winegrower with SWNZ, utilising organic principles, including inter row planting and sheep grazing.
The Environment In Mind
Kiwiesque has been designed to capture the shape and texture of the old timber framed red corrugated iron wool shed as well as being environment friendly.
The sun's natural light and heat are captured by the positioning of the vast glass areas, with heat retained by double glazing, insulated concrete floorings and sheep's wool wall insulation.
Natural wood fires and LED lighting have been utilised for energy efficiency. Pure rainwater is harnessed from the extensive roof area. All wastewater is treated on site returning to the land as irrigation.
Contemporary Country Farmhouse
Kiwiesque is situated on the site of the iconic old red corrugated Van Der Linden Woolshed, and the architecture pays homage to this heritage, yet with much grander aspirations and scale.
The interiors take a contemporary approach to the classic country farmhouse, with spaces designed to create a relaxing atmosphere with high ceilings and large windows welcoming lots of natural light – and of course, the beautiful countryside view. Striking the perfect balance between rustic and modern, guests will relax easily in the stylish yet understated elegance of this Hawke’s Bay vineyard accommodation.
The accommodation is sensitive to the environment and Kiwiesque takes extra measures to minimise its environmental impact, so guests will stay knowing their visit also loves the Earth.
